BLACK TECHNO MATTERS presents: F_X_M_X_L_Y

June 17-19, 2022. Washington DC.

F_X_M_X_L_Y is a three-day Juneteenth event series featuring 22 artists, many of whom are local to the Washington, DC area. F_X_M_X_L_Y celebrates the black roots of techno and house music while also highlighting up and coming artists as well as hometown heroes. The goal of F_X_M_X_L_Y is to foster a sense of pride, joy and togetherness in the black electronic music community. The weekend of events will encompass both indoor and outdoor spaces as well as daytime and nighttime events. The vibe is the celebration of our liberation through the continued perspiration of artists contributing to the reclamation and decolonization of our musical culture. Y’all get that?

We're kicking off our Juneteenth weekend series with a party for the artists: a gathering of black artists and creatives as well as their friends and fam in a safe intimate space together for conversation, celebration, collaboration, and community building. There will be 3 floors of music, one of which will be livestreamed on Black Techno Matters Radio. In the basement: Stukes, Blvksite, Damon Bradley and Juana. In the main room: KayLaSoul, SPCL.K, and Fawks. There will also be a chill-out lounge upstairs. This will be a mostly private party with a *very small* number of tickets available to the public.

We’ve brought Black Rave Culture back this year to headline our outdoor Juneteenth event, this time at the newly renovated Franklin Park in the heart of downtown DC. Smoke & Tea will open the event with healing ambient vibes, then local dance favorite Diyanna Monet will kick up the energy, followed by festive live drum machine music by Future Drum Circle, and ending with the fast bpms of BRC.
