STUKES continues his ascent as a DJ and producer, exposing techno heads locally and beyond to his hard-hitting rhythmic style. Now, he brings the heat with Asura EP, a 4-track ride through techno’s dynamic ranges featuring remixes from genre heavyweights, Juana and BLACKHOUSE. Original tracks “Asura” and “The Betrayal” open the EP, highlighted by cavernous heavy kicks, ominous textures, and tension sure to get people thrashing. Juana’s remix adds snappy high-end percussive elements full of swagger to the title track while maintaining its dark and powerful aura. BLACKHOUSE’s quintessential “harder-faster” energy gives “The Betrayal” an appropriate transition from “character introduction” to “final boss fight.”

The artwork is inspired by Edo period Japanese art which, when translated, says “Demon Aura, Nine Sword Style, Asura” a famous anime move that the EP derives its name from. It’s a fitting reference as the Asura EP shows that, after over a decade, STUKES continues to push the boundaries of traditional techno and create high-BPM, themed tracks that hold your attention in more ways than one.
